Queen City Scribes provides an informal space for people to gather, encourage each other, & learn new things about the historic art of Calligraphy and its practice.
We typically show up with our pens, do a quick show & tell for projects we’ve been excited about since the previous meeting, have a loose prompt/lesson, and then take some time to practice!
*NOTE: Due to the Celtic Calligraphy Class taking place over the next six weeks, the 9th of Feb will be the last opportunity to gather with the Scribes before the group resumes meeting after the class, on April 13th.*
We meet the second Monday of the month, 5:30-7:30pm every month. We meet in the Lundy Center, in the Red Atlas coffee shop. Be sure to check our instagram (@queencityscribes) for pictures of meetings, un-finished, and finished projects!
Our group is often times the first introduction people have into Calligraphy.
Show & tell is optional, but we HIGHLY encourage you to begin sharing your work to build your confidence as a Calligrapher and Artist!
No, there is no fee for participating in our local group.
Bring your own art supplies-we'd love to see you grow as a Calligrapher!
While QCS is a local group, there is room to grow! We don’t push you to join, but if you are interested in further education, Big Sky Scribes (of which several of our members are affiliated with), does require dues, and often has workshops and regional meetings of Calligraphy guilds. They also have a magazine that several of our members have been published in.
