-Gary Larson
We're pleased to announce Gary Larson's workshop geared towards artists of all levels-- introducing the Master of Early Northern Renaissance painting,
Jan van Eyck.
Van Eyck pioneered the use of luminosity and depth with layers of resins and tempera in paintings, almost single handedly developing the "look" of the art created during the Renaissance. Rarely has the technique of one painter received such attention, scrutiny, analysis and comparison in art history.
Van Eyck pioneered several painting techniques creating luminosity and depths of illusion, layering egg tempera, linseed oil, resin varnish and egg/oil emulsions.
This intensive 18-hr. workshop defines the profound difference between modern painting and the unique methodology of Jan van Eyck.
Yes, YOU can learn to paint using these techniques.

ARTIST/Instructor Gary Larson (BA Painting, NIU, 1970) brings years of research into traditional methods, researching, reengineering, and recreating historic paint mixtures and making them available during his classes, and turning them into activities available to novice and professional alike.
He has taught around the world, and we’re honored to have him teach here at Queen City Framing & Art Supplies!
